ghosted an hour before a date
I was already dressed. The date was supposed to start in an hour, and I still didn't know where we were meeting.
The time had already been moved later.
Where are we going?
Nothing.
About an hour before the planned time, he stopped answering.
There was nowhere to go.
The embarrassing part wasn't just that he'd changed his mind. It was that I was sitting there ready, like I'd shown up to a party that had been canceled and no one had told me. All that effort converting into nothing in real time.
Other people had their own versions.
One woman arrived at the date location after the other person said he was on his way and then only fifteen minutes away. The chat disappeared. The date never happened.
Another had been talking, texting, and FaceTiming with a Hinge match for two weeks. He chose the restaurant, date, and time. They texted an hour before the date while she was getting ready. She arrived at the restaurant. Her iMessages were no longer delivering. She called and realized she had been blocked. He had unmatched her on Hinge.
Two weeks of texting and FaceTime. She got ready. She traveled to the restaurant. Only then did she discover he had disappeared.
What I do know is that an hour before a date, if someone won't tell you where you're meeting, that is your answer.
What I took from it
Being ghosted feels frustrating, especially after preparing for a date. This silence might not be about you; it could reflect his own uncertainties. Your readiness to connect is a strength, even if this moment didn't unfold as planned.
