ghosted after making plans for a dinner date

We'd been calling each other every night.

Not just texting. Actual phone calls. We'd FaceTimed multiple times. I knew what her voice sounded like, what her apartment looked like in the background, the way she laughed at something I said.

So when we made plans for dinner at 8:15, it felt solid.

The day of, she texted that work was very busy. She said she'd text me later.

I didn't think much of it.

At 7:00, I sent a confirmation. Just checking we were still on for 8:15.

No answer.

I stared at my phone for a while. Then I got ready anyway.

The thing is, we'd been talking every single night. This wasn't someone I'd exchanged a few messages with and never heard their voice. We'd had actual conversations. She was real. I'd seen her face on my screen.

So I went to the restaurant.

I sat at the table and checked my phone. Nothing.

I ordered a drink. Still nothing.

At 8:30, I knew she wasn't coming.

I paid and left.

When I got home, I sent another text. Then another one later that night.

Nothing.

The next day, still nothing.

More than 24 hours since her last message, and I was stuck between two stories. One where she was genuinely overwhelmed and I was being impatient. One where I'd been stood up and ghosted.

The FaceTime calls kept circling back in my mind. She wasn't a fake profile. She wasn't a catfish. She was a real person who had spent hours talking to me, who had made plans with me, who had said she'd text me later.

And then just didn't.

I sent a few more follow-up texts. I kept them light, gave her room to explain.

She never responded.

I don't know what happened. I don't know if something came up that was so overwhelming she couldn't send a single text. I don't know if she panicked. I don't know if she met someone else. I don't know if the moment it became real, sitting across from each other at a table, she decided she couldn't do it.

I just know she didn't show up, and she didn't say anything.

Eventually, I blocked her number.

Not because I was angry. Because the silence had become its own answer.

What I took from it

Being ghosted after consistent communication is confusing and hurtful. It's okay to trust that the no-show and silence are enough information to move on. You don't need to understand her reasons to decide what's best for you.
